The keynote speaker on Friday, for managing complex spinal pathology, is Dr. Neil Wright, Assistant Professor at Washington University School of Medicine, Department of Neurological Surgery and Orthopedics. Dr. Wright specializes in spinal degenerative disease, minimally invasive surgery, neurological and spine surgery. He received the prestigious Mayfield Award, for the best research in spinal disorders by a neurosurgery resident. The American Association of Neurological Surgeons gives this award to one neurosurgery resident from the United States or Canada on an annual basis. In 2004, Dr. Wright also developed a new, safer technique for performing surgery on the top of the neck, which is rapidly being adopted by other neurosurgeons across the country.
The 2008 ONE clinic also uniquely features a hands-on cadaver lab intended to teach the latest techniques in cranial and spinal surgery. There are five different cadaver stations made possible by generous sponsorships from our corporate sponsors, which include Stryker, Medtronic Spine and Biologics, Trans1, Abbott Spine, and Globus Medical.
The ONE Clinic provides and exciting opportunity for senior level neurosurgery residents, neurosurgery fellows, and practicing neurosurgeons to engage in this educational endeavor while receiving valuable insight into both surgical technique as well as practice management topics.
